Cardboard Display Trays
Suitable for Retailers & Manufacturers
Cardboard display trays come in various standard types and sizes, catering to the diverse needs of retailers and product manufacturers. One common type is the “counter display tray,” designed to sit conveniently on retail counters or checkout areas. These trays are typically compact in size, providing a space-efficient solution for promoting small, impulse-buy items such as sweets, gums, or small accessories.
For larger products or merchandise that require more visibility, “floor display trays” are commonly used. These trays are larger and often positioned strategically throughout retail spaces to attract attention and encourage impulse purchases. They may have multiple tiers or compartments to showcase a variety of products, making them versatile for different types of merchandise.
In addition, “shelved display trays” offer a tiered structure with shelves for organising and displaying products in an organised manner. This type is particularly useful for showcasing items that benefit from individualised visibility, such as books, electronics, or cosmetics.
The size of cardboard display trays can vary significantly depending on the intended use and the products they are meant to hold. Standard dimensions for counter display trays may range from smaller options, such as 12 inches by 8 inches, to larger sizes, like 18 inches by 12 inches. Floor display trays can have dimensions ranging from 24 inches by 24 inches to 36 inches by 48 inches or even larger, accommodating a diverse range of products and retail spaces.
The choice of cardboard display tray type and size depends on factors such as the nature of the products, available retail space, and the desired visual impact in the target market. Manufacturers often offer customisation options to tailor display trays to specific product dimensions and promotional strategies, providing a flexible solution for retailers seeking effective merchandising displays.

Corrugated Cardboard Types
Corrugated cardboard is a versatile and widely used material in the packaging industry, known for its strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness. The grades and types of corrugated cardboard are classified based on the combination of layers, flutes, and linerboards used in their construction.
The three main components of corrugated cardboard are the linerboards and the corrugated medium. Linerboards are the flat outer surfaces of the cardboard, while the corrugated medium is the wavy or fluted layer sandwiched between the linerboards. The different combinations of these components result in various grades of corrugated cardboard.
The most common grades of corrugated cardboard are single-wall, double-wall, and triple-wall. Single-wall consists of one layer of corrugated medium between two linerboards, providing a basic level of strength and flexibility. Double-wall includes two layers of corrugated medium between three linerboards, offering increased strength and protection, making it suitable for heavier or more delicate items. Triple-wall, as the name suggests, has three layers of corrugated medium and four linerboards, providing the highest level of strength and protection, often used for heavy-duty packaging.
Apart from grades, corrugated cardboard also comes in different types based on flute profiles. Flutes are the wavy, arch-like structures between the linerboards and are responsible for the cardboard’s strength and cushioning properties. Common flute profiles include A, B, C, E, and F, each with distinct characteristics. For instance, A-flute is the largest and provides excellent cushioning, while B-flute is smaller and offers a smoother surface for printing. C-flute strikes a balance between A and B, providing good stacking strength and crush resistance. E-flute is thin and suitable for high-quality printing, making it ideal for retail packaging. F-flute is even thinner than E-flute and is often used for small, lightweight items.
The grades and types of corrugated cardboard cater to diverse packaging needs, ranging from basic protection for everyday items to heavy-duty solutions for industrial and shipping purposes. The combination of linerboards and corrugated medium, along with different flute profiles, allows for customisation to meet specific requirements in the packaging industry.
